my big fat greek wedding 06.09.2003 - 9:16 a.m. i went to a greek wedding this past weekend, and it was soooo much like the movie. it was so fun!! many, many drinks, and lots of men! unfortunately all big fat greek married men. the girl getting married was another teacher here at my school, and i and five other teachers were invited. in our circle of friends, i am now the only single one left.....gina and i were supposed to stick together!! now she's joined the "married couple group", and i'm left to be miserable and alone!! boohoohoo! anyways, it started out with this one old old greek fellow to come and ask one of our fellow girls to dance...he pulled her out to the dance floor with a cloth napkin and everything....then of course, he rounds the rest of us out there with his napkin (i'm not sure whats with greek dancing and napkins but it was very popular!) we're all dancing around this poor guy and he shouts, "I've died and gone to heaven!!" in his perfectly greek voice.... it was so fun! i partied all night then went home alone. there was always an old greek fellow, but i opted for none for the evening ;) 2 margaritas and 5 beers later, i felt the need to retire. this was my last weekend in good ole raleigh, nc, so i went out with some friends. my very very best friend dayna met randy and i out for drinks in chapel hill. randy's an old friend, no chemistry there, just friend. anyways, i was worthless. its a 40 min drive to chapel hill, but the bars there are worth the drive compared to raleigh....well by the time randy and i got there i'd had a little nappy poo in the car and i was ready for beddy by! i was yawning. my drinking preference was water....it was not so fun. i felt bad because dayna is truly my greatest girlfriend right now and she is moving to england tomorrow!!! because she lives in chapel hill, we didn't really hang out too much. and the fact that she works at an over night boarding school and is only off random days throughout the month. sad that i was so bummy on the last night i'll see her....i'm going to send her an email. we always had fun because (crazily enough) people always came up to us and told me i looked like yasmine bleeth and her that she looked like jewel. (my close friends and i say no about the yasmine thingy, but when perfect strangers meet me they always say it....i've gotten it from 8 to 10 different people in 3 different states) but dayna really does look like jewel (with better teeth) she's beautiful. i love her... (in a friend kind of way)...i'm going to miss this gosh darn place. as much as i've complained, i've made it a home and i will miss it!! tata for today.... � |
