New Year, New Kids, New Stories

09.05.2005 - 10:03 p.m.

hey ya'll!!

long time, no read.

school has started up again. that's right, no karina, no bruce, and doggone it! i miss matilda. yes i still think of her, and yes how she would be in 5th grade right now. WOW! i can see her now. tall lanky ole thing with her big circle glasses, still naive and playful, probably running and getting dirty with the boys while still grossing out all the girls when she picks up frogs and crickets. ya know, normal ole matilda things.

well new year at school, always leaves room for a new face that strikes my fancy as matilda did. this year...its benjamin.

benjamin, lovely ole lad, he's a talker. loves to talk. and he's always right.

benjamin came into school on thursday. the gas hype here in the south has gotten a little crazy, and even my 3rd graders are down in the news.

i have morning duty on thursdays and good ole ben plops down in front of me and says..."Ya know, miss swtapplpie, mr. bush has got all dat gas with him in texas and he said he ain't sharin it with NOBODY!"

benjamin talks with his hands too, and when he said "nobody" he points both of his hands at ya all perot-ish.

but working with benjamin is not the easiest of tasks, nor is it as pleasurable as matilda could be. here's a little word problem for ya:

pencils-$2, paper-$4, notebook-$6,
Bobby has $20. He buys 7 packs of pencils. How much money did he spend?

On benjamin's paper, he has $27 as the answer. After we checked papers, benjamin is correcting his work and he says that Francisco marked his paper wrong and it was RIGHT!

i looked at it, and noticed it was indeed incorrect and he needed to work it out again. Benjamin looks me square in the eyes and says, "i did work it out and its right."

i look him square in the eyes and i say, "no ben, its not right, try it again. you made a mistake."

Benjamin, getting closer, "No i did not!"

Me, even closer, "Yes you did!!"

Ben, nose to nose now, "I read it and it is $27"

Me, squishing my nose to his, "You read it wrong, its $14, YOU IDIOT!!!!!"

ok....so i didn't really get that close, nor did i call him an idiot, but by golly we were nose to nose arguing over who was right. damn kids!....i'm telling ya. i'm gonna be gray-headed before i turn 30. guarantee it!

oh my. love him to death. he makes me laugh a bundle, but he is a crazy mad fool....and he knows my buttons...

hehehe. good to chat guys. sorry about the eye-soar my page has become. one of these days i'll get off my lazy ass and buy another membership to reload all my pics...but until then...just bask in my words and little red x's......
