happy 4th!

07.07.2003 - 12:30 p.m.

hello everyone...

i hope all had a great time this 4th of july. i myself had a super time. i spent it in the best, most entertaining city in the southeast! you guessed it, gaffney, sc! (that was a joke)

nah, actually a friend of mine had a bbq at her dad's house. she now lives in an amazing apt in downtown manhattan working as ralph lauren's secretary... ? (sounds cool, but you never know, he may have 100s of secretaries) either way she's making enough bucks to score the d.t. apt.

anyways, we all sat around drinking beer starting around 6pm. my dad, being a retired veteran, wanted me to come back home around 9 to shoot fireworks, then i could head back to the party.

so i had a few beers and hung out by my friend's dad's new pool. it was in the process of being dug, so the bottom was a big mud hole, while the sides and walkway were finished. it only lacked a liner and water. we'd pretend it had water in it and stick our feet in to "cool off". the bet of the night was for someone to slide down the sliding board into the mud...no one would do it.

around 8:30 i drove back home and enjoyed some fireworks with the fam. my nephew, jayden, now 2, enjoyed them throroughly. he would scream from the time they shot off, to the time they cracked open. then as soon as it would go out, he'd say, "ohhhhh nooooo! what happened?"

it was presh! (his dad was the one lighting them) and he'd say each time as he'd walk over to light one..."Come on, you can do it, dad!"

there's just something funny in a 2 yr old calling him "dad" like a teenager. hehehe

well i went back to the party and as i was driving from one end of gaffney to the other i drove through the most amazing canopy of fireworks you could imagine. it didn't stop!! it was a nice show. i had a few more beers and listened to some of my guy friends "try" to pick out tunes on their guitars. unforch, most of them had already broken into the gonja cake danny had baked, so the fun was over for me. they were too busy all dazed out or laughing over nothing. i'm just not into that crap...

so my sister and a few of her friends were at the 1 bar of gaffney and i went there until about 2am. it was fun, i'll say my 4th was well spent.

i hope your's was well spent and fun...

a final story to perk your morning. all day on friday my sisters and i kept saying the pledge of allegiance. they are as knowledgeable of matilda as all of you are. well my little matilda, suprisingly enough i never told you this story. every morning as we said the pledge, she was say it in the deepest and loudest voice you can imagine. (she also made sure she said it the slowest) so imagine a very loud, very deep, and extremely slow saying of the pledge. it was hilarious!! and the best was that it was so loud that the rest of the class had to follow her lead.

i finally had to tell her that she needed to not say it so loudly and to speed it up to a normal pace too. i felt bad, but i had to do it when i saw other kids turn around to look at her and laugh. she's entertaining to us, but i'll never let another child make fun of her. it was my rightful duty! (though i would've loved to have heard it like that everyday of our school year!!) :)
